2005 Transformation

Tasting Notes  |  Press  |  Sold Out, Sorry

Inspired by the wines of Bordeaux's Right Bank, this blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot is the earthier, smokier, more subtle expression of the Jaffe vineyard. Transformation shares much in common with the Cabernets of the Rutherford appellation to the south, but has greater aging potential and a more profound integration of distinctive varieties.

Fans of the storied Napa vintages of the late 20th century will notice in Transformation the skillful balance supposedly lost to California wines after the turn of the millennium. This wine entices with aromas of raspberries, violets and black currants. The palate is velvet from entry to finish, with red currant, raspberry, blackberry, subtle flavors of allspice and notes of earth and smoke appearing by turns.
